announcing friends on wheels

Understanding the critical impact of social connections on well-being, Meals on Wheels of Loveland and Berthoud is addressing loneliness and isolation among our homebound and aging neighbors with the new Friends on Wheels Program.

This initiative pairs volunteers with clients for weekly in-home visits, fostering deeper connections and friendships beyond meal deliveries.

Volunteers spend quality time with clients, engaging in activities like chatting over coffee, listening to music, and playing games. These interactions enhance physical, mental, and emotional health, providing a sense of purpose and community.

Nutrition to support independence

The Older Americans Act Nutrition Program is the only federally supported program designed specifically to meet the nutritional and social needs of aging adults.

9 out of 10 recipients say Meals on Wheels meals received at home improve their health. Our programs can serve an individual for an entire year for about the same cost as just one day in a hospital or 10 days in a nursing home.

services and connections to help thrive

Daily wellness checks and social connections with caring volunteers provide peace of mind for families as their loved one navigates the aging process.

Meals on Wheels is a solution that addresses the escalating issues of hunger and isolation in older, at-risk adults.
