Oh What Fun! Meals on Wheels Volunteer Appreciation Picnic

Rooster’s BBQ provided the burgers, hot dogs, fries and smiles at this year’s Volunteer Appreciation Picnic.

On a sunny afternoon, Fairgrounds Park Pavilion in Loveland transformed into a 1950’s Diner complete with tasty burgers, fries, and handmade shakes! The occasion? The Meals on Wheels of Loveland and Berthoud Volunteer Appreciation Picnic - an event that brought together the heart and soul of this compassionate community.

good Eats & treats

Roosters BBQ took center stage at the event, grilling up mouthwatering burgers, hot dogs, and crispy fries from the back of their fire pit truck. The air was full of the irresistible aroma of sizzling food as volunteers and MWOLB staff gathered around picnic tables, sharing stories and laughter.

Sips & smiles

To beat the heat and to get the guests of honor in the mood for some 1950s fun, Meals on Wheels provided cool treats: shakes for all to enjoy. It was a delightful addition to the classic picnic fare and potluck dishes that some volunteers chose to bring.

An open bar served up refreshing beverages to accompany the delicious food. Guests were able to raise toasts to each other and all of the amazing volunteers who dedicate their time and energy to serving those in need.

Honoring Our Heroes

At the heart of this event was the heartfelt acknowledgment of the heroes among us - Meals on Wheels volunteers. These dedicated individuals devote their precious time to making a difference in the lives of others. Whether through meal deliveries, kitchen, and office support, volunteering at events, or offering companionship to clients - their selflessness and compassion have touched countless hearts.

Executive Director, Jeffrey Pomranka, and Program Director, Stephanie Morris, address the crowd of volunteers, offering thanks and admiration for the work that they do.

Attendees heard how by the end of this year, Meals on Wheels volunteers will have delivered over 75,000 nutritious meals and performed over 83,000 home visits with older and homebound folks in our community. Those are impressive numbers!

Community in action

The Meals on Wheels Volunteer Appreciation Picnic was not just about the food and fun festivities - it was a testament to the power of community. Volunteers and staff came together to celebrate the spirit of giving back. It was a reminder that when a community unites in a common cause, incredible things and feats can happen.

This event was full of appreciation, connection, and community. It highlighted the importance of kindness, compassion, and the unwavering dedication of volunteers who ensure that no one in our community goes hungry or feels alone. We LOVE our volunteers!
