Laurie Ford served as a coach and a teacher for children and adults for more than 30 years. After being diagnosed with stage four breast cancer, she had to resign from teaching and was inspired to begin volunteering with Meals on Wheels of Loveland and Berthoud. Her service dog accompanies her on her route each week but her diagnosis has not prevented her from helping others in need. “I love the clients on my route,” said Laurie. “They all have a story. I’m blessed from the moment I walk into the Meals on Wheels office and hang out with the other drivers. All of them have huge hearts and you can’t help but smile at them and laugh with them. The hugs don’t stop until I’m done with my route and I’m blessed for the opportunity to find joy!” Laurie uses #mystoryisnotover to describe her experience.
